3 Ways to make Yoga a Daily Habit

Jun 3, 2021 | Fitness

By now, people almost know that practicing Yoga can have a positive effect on your body. We will not go into the details of the benefits of continued Yoga practice, as they can be found on various websites or so, but we will mention the following three as typical benefits.

  • Strengthening of deep muscles
  • Correcting posture and improving stiff shoulders and back pain
  • Regulation of the autonomic nervous system

The issue that we face is whether or not we can continue to do the yoga exercise. It is said that yoga should be practiced every day as much as possible. As with anything else, it needs to be done in an appropriate manner and amount to be continuous.

In this post, we will describe the three ways to make yoga a habit, as recommended.

1. Don’t do for a long time

When you go to a yoga studio, each class can last for an hour, or sometimes even longer than 90 minutes. If you include the time it takes to go to the yoga studio, you will consume a lot of time. With such a time commitment, it is quite a burden to go to the studio every day, and difficult for those who work.

We do not recommend such a long commitment. We recommend that you do it habitually every day for 15 minutes a day, or even just 10 minutes. You should be able to generate that much time.

This will inevitably lead you to do yoga at home. In this case, rather than doing it on your own, find a video website that suits you and play it while you do it. Or online yoga. This way, you can do yoga at your own timing without being bound by time.

Later, we will recommend a yoga’s video website.

2. breathing techniques for concentration

One of the reasons why people cannot continue yoga is that they get bored with it. It takes a lot of time for yoga to show its effects. Many people can’t stand it and quit. They may also get bored during a single exercise session. Yoga can be more taxing on the body than it appears, depending on the content of the exercise. If you attend the exercise with a vague feeling then, you may get bored due to short of concentration.

Here’s how to maintain your concentration so you don’t get bored. It is to consciously practice a certain breathing technique.

By nature, yoga is inseparable from breathing. However, it is only possible when we practice beneficial breathing.

What is beneficial breathing?

That is the IAP breathing method.

IAP breathing technique

I have already posted about this on this site, so please see “IAP for Ultimate Special Recovery“.

To explain it simply, it is a breathing technique that pushes the diaphragm downward and increases abdominal pressure. When practicing this, you need to be aware of your diaphragm, which will naturally increase your concentration. This breathing also increases the pressure in the abdominal cavity, which supports and stabilizes the center of the body and maintains the posture that we are supposed to have. By practicing yoga in this state, you will be able to improve your posture, relieve back pain and stiff shoulders, as well as increase your concentration.

3. Modify exercises to suit your physical condition and situation

You should not force your body to practice Yoga. However, it is important to continue every day, so it is a good idea to have a variety of menus to suit your physical condition at the time. Not only when you feel good, but also when you wake up in the morning, before you go to bed at night, to improve certain body parts, autonomic nervous system, etc. The more variations you have, the more fun you will have.

Recommended Yoga Video Websites

Our recommendation is  ‘B-Life’Yoga.

B-Life is a well-known yoga channel in Japan, with over one million subscribers. I recommend this channel for the following reasons:

  • Short from 10 to 20 minutes’ yoga exercises.
  • Calming music and atmosphere with Asian beauty instructor, Mariko.
  • A wide variety of videos, including time of day, part of the body, and maternity videos.
  • Subtitles available in 15 countries

We have been practicing yoga exercises on this site every day for more than a year, and we have noticed an improvement in our posture, relief of pain especially in the lower back, and an increase in the range of motion of the neck.

We encourage everyone to try yoga and effective breathing techniques to revitalize their bodies.
